Hunting Season Has Commenced!

The hunting season for 2008-2009 is now upon us. Dove season kicked off in most areas at the beginning of September, while hunting white-tail deer by rifle begins at the beginning of November. I’m sure all of you are starting to (or already have) polish up your 12-gauges and get all your rifles cleaned up for another season.

Whether you’re practicing the art of falconry or being more traditional with a large rifle, you’ll always want a way of capturing your progress and experience. A great gift and gadget to make that happen would be the Tachyon XC. This little camera will give you the power to capture all your shots and movement on  video, without scaring everything away (it has a privacy mode to silence all camera sounds). The Tachyon XC is your ultimate way to capture your hunting footage on the go, at only $149.99, check out www.youtube.com/tachyonxc to find out more about this great device (check out the videos for yourself to see all the compatibilities).

With the XC’s ability to use 2, 4, 6, 16, and 32GB SDHC cards, you’ll have the opportunity to film your whole day on the lease at a cheap price. Rather than bringing your big and bulky, expensive camera, you could easily mount this camera on your gun, hat, tree stand, feeder or even put it on a small tripod. Not only can you capture video, you can take still photos for anything you catch and bag.

The Tachyon XC is shockproof and waterproof, so you can be running after your target or plowing through the bushes on your ATV, without your camera shutting itself off, plus it can work even during a wet and snowy day in the early morning. Grab the Tachyon XC while you can for all your hunting capturing needs.

Texas is the most popular state of overall hunting, while other states follow. The following hunting locations include many of the following game: Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Exotics, Boar, Dove, Quail, Duck, Elk, Javelina, Pronghorn, Axis, Deer, Blackbuck, Mouflon, Aoudad, Corscan, Wild Hog, Duck, Goose, Pheasant, Black Bear, Antelope, Moose, and more.Below are a few places to give you an idea of where to hunt. Although there are many listed sites of where you can hunt, the biggest hunting enthusiasts also choose to find their own locations throughout the states to their own liking. If you would rather go to a set place, here are a few options.

Snow season approaching!

Snow season is about to hit us pretty quick.  If you are a snowboarder, skier, snow skater, snow mobile rider, cross country skier or even ready to bomb some hills on sleds or tubes, your anticipation of the fresh powder is reeling inside! (Like mine)

The perfect gift or toy that you need this season is the Tachyon XC, you know you need to film that back country ride or the insane park/pipe session for all your friends to watch.  The Tachyon XC helmet camera is waiting for you at $149.99, check us out at http://www.tachyoninc.com/main.html (watch the videos, you can see our camera is perfect for filming your first or third person footage.)

With the ability to use 2, 4, 8, 16, & 32GB SDHC cards you could film your entire run, session or day for that matter, and at an affordable price.  Why pay the huge dollars for a professional lipstick camera, when you can get amazing quality 30FPS video with the XC, you can even take still photos on the lift up the mountain of you and your family or friends.

The Tachyon XC is shockproof and waterproof (28ft/8.5m) so that when you hit that kicker for big air your camera isn’t going to shut off on the hard landing(like some other brands) and when you bail hard into the fresh powder or slush you’re not going to have any problems when your camera gets wet!

Have fun, the excitement is building, maybe we will see you on the mountain!

Creating and Editing your video

Well, we have started to receive many user videos like the ones you see in our last post, “User Videos”. We have also been receiving questions like, “How do you guys make your videos look so good?” and “The user videos on your site look incredible, how do I get mine to look like those?” The purpose of this post will be to give you some great pointers and help in creating a great video with your Tachyon XC footage.

A firmly mounted camera that is stable always creates the best filmed footage. There are many different ways that you can mount your XC. You can use any of the mounts that come with the helmet camera, purchase others from the site or create your own. (We have a few examples in the user manual http://www.tachyoninc.com/manual.html) Many of our users have created their personal mounts to fit their needs using a variety of materials ie: rubber bands, zip ties, Velcro, and many others. Whether you are filming from your bike, skateboard, motorcycle, ultra-light, hang glider, kite board or any other recreational vehicle, it will be your job to find the perfect placement and angle to film from. Find a great location to film your activity, and if you have two XC’s bring a friend to film some third person video as well. Always try to include some foreground shots if possible; front of the bike, handlebar shots, wheel or feet shots, speedometer anything to make your film interesting and different. The more angles the better!

Make sure your batteries (we recommend energizer ultimate lithium) are fresh and your SD card has empty space to record on, you don’t want to have a great session of playing and filming and arrive home empty handed! Trust me it has happened to all of us. Remember you can use anywhere from a 4GB SDHC to a 32GB SDHC in your XC. (Use a fast card for the best quality video, 10MB per second or higher)

Once you are done filming your session, head home and grab a beer or a glass of wine and upload your footage. If you own a PC take out your SD card and insert it into your SD drive and save your footage on your HD. If you own a Mac, plug in your USB and do the same. If you have an external HD you may want to upload your files to that as well for a back up. Now you are ready to import your files to your editing program. Editing is the key to making your video great!

There are a ton of great editing programs out there for free and for sale. Mac users; you have I-Movie pre-installed on your CPU and it is a great application for beginners (if for some reason you don’t then you can purchase I-Life at 79$ and download the software). PC users your CPU also comes with windows movie maker another great beginner application. There many free downloads out there for you as well (Jump Cut, Jahshaka, Virtual Dub, Wax, and Zwei-Stein are a few examples). For a review on mid level editing programs visit http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com

Music is going to bring your video together and the finishing touch. Search your music library for the best fit, you may want to play a few different tracks while you watch your video before you add anything, you never know what song is going to make perfect soundtrack music. Don’t forget to trim the volume to fit the length of the video; you may need more than one song. You can extract the video clip sound for a pure music video or keep segments of sound in with the music, which is your choice, you are the director!

If you have trouble with the basics of your editing program YouTube will have a simple tutorial for you, just search for “(your program) tutorial” on the YouTube site or anywhere on the web. For those looking to go up a notch try Adobe’s premier pro or Final Cut HD Applications to step up from beginner applications to professional.

Once your clips are trimmed and split (pulling out your best footage) you can add smooth transitions between different scenes and add effects to your clips like time-lapse or slow motion (usually the film looks better using no effects). If you are creating with the purpose of burning to a DVD for family and friends then time doesn’t matter, but if you are planning on uploading your video to a website, blog or video site then short videos will ease that process. Anywhere in the 1-5 minute length will work fine and be hassle free.

Once your video is finished and saved upload it to your favorite video upload site-YouTube, Viddler, or Vimeo etc. There are hundreds of video sites now that you can choose from. I recommend YouTube for a number of reasons; there user interface has made it extremely easy to upload, easy to copy URL’s for email, and easy to copy your video’s HTML code and embed the video on your personal site etc. Remember to upload your video at 640X480 resolution so that your video will automatically play on YouTube’s high quality video mode (most people don’t know that YouTube offers this service). With a YouTube account you can send us the link the link to your video and if chosen we will post in on the Tachyon XC homepage http://www.tachyoninc.com/user_video.html

You will need to register for service and create your own homepage on YouTube. Don’t forget to add us as your friend! http://www.youtube.com/tachyonxc

Tachyon XC Press Release

Tachyon Inc. Launches Latest Generation Helmet Camera

Lewisville, TX. September 23, 2008 – Tachyon, Inc. announces the release of its new product, the Tachyon XC. The Tachyon XC is the latest generation video and still helmet camera designed for filming extreme action in extreme conditions. It is extremely rugged and very simple to use, while delivering up to 30FPS of video.

The Tachyon XC is shockproof, waterproof, and foolproof. Take it anywhere on land, into the sea, and into the air and bring back your stunts, adventures, and bloopers. It comes with a remote control and custom-designed mounting accessories. A patented shock-proof battery system eliminates an all-too common problem among other action cameras; the loss of power and recorded files caused by the jarring loose of the batteries. This innovation ensures that videos taken in challenging and perhaps impossible-to-repeat situations will not be lost. And unlike other action cameras which need to rely on an external waterproof case, the Tachyon XC’s housing is already waterproof, allowing you to film to a record depth of 28 feet (8.5 meters) and protecting the camera from adverse elements.

The Tachyon XC provides multiple recording levels, allowing you to customize your video’s resolution and recording times according to your needs. It also has a stealth recording mode, ideal for surveillance videos. It makes use of the common 1, 2, and 4GB SD and SDHC cards, but it is also the only helmet cam on the market that is compatible with the 8GB SDHC card. This can give the user up to 16 hours of video on a single card. For more information on the Tachyon XC please contact Chris Whitehouse or visit http://www.tachyoninc.com
